COVID-19 UPDATE: (as of Tues. June 2nd)
Hello Members, I would like to share with you our 2 week update on the status of NLGYC opening.
Recently, New York State has moved our region into phase II of reopening. As such, the Northern Lake George Yacht Club Board of Directors has authorized the opening of the hoist to take place in the near future. A committee is currently working hard to develop a safety protocol to keep all of our members safe and in compliance with New York State guidance regarding COVID-19. We will share the official date for the hoist opening and the safety protocol in the coming weeks.
Once the hoist is open, club members with facilities use will be permitted to use the hoist to launch their racing class boats and will be expected to follow the posted safety procedures. Please remember, that all boats need to have appropriate New York State tags and registration to launch. All safety protocols will be posted on the NLGYC web page and at the point of use at NLGYC.
We encourage all members to sail for fun and, with that in mind, will consider the launching of non-racing class boats this summer. The safety of our members and equipment is paramount and will need to be addressed prior to launching a non-racing class boat. If you have a non-racing class boat that you would like to launch at NLGYC, please contact the Commodore directly at firstname.lastname@example.org for approval.
The clubhouse and staff house remain temporarily closed. No access is allowed for safety and compliance purposes.
The Northern Lake George Yacht Club Board of Directors continues to have regular discussions on how to best move forward as guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and State of New York evolves. As promised, we will continue to keep the membership regularly updated on our decisions. Again, the health and safety of our members is our top priority.
If you have any questions, comments or suggestions, please feel free to reach out to the Flag Officers or me. Thank you for your continued cooperation and look forward to seeing you out safely enjoying Lake George when possible.
Bruce Hatfield, Commodore
